misting system hydraulic calculation

Misting System Design Guide

A design calculation connects the application target to nozzle selection, zone flow, pipe losses and pump duty. Record the design assumptions and verify the inputs before final component selection.

Calculate by operating zone

For each simultaneous zone, total design flow equals the number of active nozzles multiplied by verified nozzle flow at the intended working pressure.

  • Separate simultaneous and alternating zones
  • Use supplier-confirmed nozzle data
  • Record allowance and uncertainty

Check the hydraulic path

Estimate losses through pipe, fittings, valves and filters, then confirm adequate pressure at the hydraulically most disadvantaged nozzle. Validate the final duty against a pump curve.

Prepare the technical RFQ

Include layout dimensions, elevations, pipe preference, nozzle spacing target, water and power data, operating schedule, ambient conditions and required controls.

Frequently asked questions

Can one configuration fit every project?

No. Flow, working pressure, water quality, pipe length, elevation, zoning and the operating environment must be reviewed together.

What should I send for a technical review?

Send the application, site dimensions, available power and water, desired zones, operating schedule and any required connection or material standard.

Submit design inputs for review

Send your layout, nozzle operating data and required control sequence so we can review the hydraulic duty and prepare a component proposal.
